Riverside Retreat Hotel

The place looks exactly like the pictures. It is managed by Shelly, the owner and a lively warm hearted lady who always has a smile on her face. The outdoors space by the pool smells of Jasmin Flowers and big butterflies everywhere. And then the views of the karst landscape and the city down below everywhere you look. its is slightly away from the Town, roughly 16 minutes by scooters which you can rent at the reception. I LOVED this place. I felt home. Wei wei the chef, Xing xing the cleaning lady, Craig the main receptionist and of course Shelly have left a print on my heart. If you are visiting the area, this is thee absolute best value for your money situation. That being said, Yangshuo is an all around kind and hospitable city so i am sure that wherever you end up will be Sweet.

Craig the manager was nice and helpful. There was a homely family feeling because of the cheerful staff. Loved his kid playing around with his friend. Gave me an insight into the challenges of a typical Chinese family. The chef treated us to two, glutinous rice dumplings since she had made them for Qingming. Very nice of her. The scenery is unbeatable. It's far from the Madding crowd. The mattresses were super comfy.

We spent 5 nights in this fantastic place and enjoyed it a lot! Amazing views from the room, super nice, spacious and modern rooms with all the necessary equipment, very nice English speaking staff who will help you plan your stay in town, good breakfast choices with good coffee, VERY nice swimming pool, not so far from the town center (which is crowded nad busy though so you want to stay at the countryside) . Also they rent bikes and ebikes at very good quality and at good prices.

Best view in whole yangshou. The location makes it quiet and it’s still very close to the city centre. The staff helped us with getting 2 bikes from the hotel for 20 yuan/ person. Quite a good deal for the whole day. We were tired from the bike and couldn’t come back as we wanted to eat and they let us park the bikes in the centre and they got them picked from there. Very convenient and no up charge! If you go in winter you can just ask for more heaters! The air con works as a heater as well. Also as we went in off season they upgraded our room for free!!

The rooms are very clean and comfortable. A very peaceful area and the Craig was very helpful with excellent English. The taxi to the main shopping area is easy. The pool was smaller than it looked in the photo but nice. Lovely garden area, easy for kids to explore and be safe. There was an Asian or western breakfast choice which varied between a buffet or served breakfast. There was also a variety of options available throughout the day from the menu from sandwiches to main meals. I would highly recommend and would definitely stay again.
